On my way out, I notice that Amanda is over… Another time, I would probably have stayed close by to pretend that I wasn’t listening in, but I figure, it’s time I give Cléo her space.
I’m not convinced going out to fix the electronics in the rain, but Dad is fearless, and he also really really wants to listen to his jazz by the pool. Methinks if he wouldn’t leave the radio post outside every day, even under the rain, there wouldn’t need fixing in the first place.
I’m just going out for a walk, and unlike my father, I’m prepared for the weather.
I was not prepared for him to go ahead and attack me with mud. Thankfully for my pretty, bright red coat, he missed.
Mom and Dad got to get the house Spooky-ready on the outside. But today, I have a plan to make it even. I climb upstairs, the part of the house that basically belongs to Mom and Dad.
In a corner by the washing machines, are the boxes that store all of the potential to ake a fairytale land out of any home.
The holiday decorations.
Spreading the spook.
Culinary Talents
Reaaaaally not feeling up to Mom’s cooking this early in the morning.
It’s the first time Cléo sees Amanda since that disastrous time when Dad tried to speak to her in the park. Apparently Amanda wasn’t returning any calls. So you can bet I sit close to them and start listening in.
“… sorry about that,” Amanda says. “I, er… I lost my phone and I… lost all of my contacts. Totally did not mean to blow you off or anything.”
“Yeah, sure! And it totally didn’t have anything to do with my dad scaring the plumbob out of you at the park, then?”
“Ooooooh, you know about that!”
“Yeaaaaaah, he meant well, but that was totally a weird thing to do. He’s a dad, youknowwhatImean?”
“Look, Stewarts, I think you’re cool. You’ve got a weird father, but whose isn’t?”
“So you’re not scared of me anymore?”
“No! In fact, I’d love to hang out with you more.”
“Awesome! Wanna give me your Simbook, Simstagram andSwitter? That way we can totally keep in touch better. Also your Simchat?”
